UPMC Respiratory Protection Program
The courses below are to assist non-UPMC employees with meeting OSHA education requirements for respiratory protection and fit testing for a tight-fitting N95 respirator. UPMC employees should NOT take these courses, but search for the same titles in HR Direct Learning as directed by your supervisor.
UPMC Respiratory Protection Program for Non-UPMC Employees
This course contains education that is to be completed before N95 respirator fitting can occur for non-UPMC employees, such as students or contract employees. UPMC employees with an employee ID should NOT complete this course, but refer to the course of the same title in HR Direct Learning.

UPMC Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Program for Non-UPMC Employees
This course discusses conditions that warrant the use of a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), the limitations of a PAPR, reviews the steps for assembling a PAPR unit, discusses the proper PAPR cleaning techniques, and reviews the correct steps for donning and doffing a PAPR. It also familiarize non-employees with the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard 1910.134.
UPMC Fit Testing Refresher Program for Non-UPMC Employees
The Fit Tester Refresher Training program is designed to provide a standardized approach to Qualitative Fit testing at UPMC. Completion of this program provides documentation that the process for fit testing either by a UPMC employed fit tester or outside contractor are the same.
